Graduates, Undergraduates & Trainees
Professional Development Scheme (PDS) for Graduates
Morgan Est's PDS for graduates is a market-leading initiative that enables the company to identify and nurture new talent.
With a mix of early responsibility and hands-on experience, built on a firm and supportive foundation, the sky is the limit for graduates at Morgan Est.
Our PDS features approved courses and initiatives in personal, management and commercial development as well as specific technical skill development. It is recognised by four of the industry's major professional organisations:
- the Institution of Civil Engineers
- the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
- the Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors
- the Institution of Mechanical Engineers
During your first few years with the company we will help you to build a portfolio of technical knowledge and transferable skills, which will provide a strong platform on which you can develop your career. However, self-motivation is absolutely vital - it is down to you to complete the work required.

Learning from Experience
Much of the structure of Morgan Est's graduate training programme is determined by the guidelines and requirements of the relevant professional body. For example an integral requirement of the ICE Professional Development Scheme is design capability. Graduates must have design experience to gain chartered status. Some design skills can be acquired in-house. Often, however, graduates are seconded for a year to leading design consultants with whom we have strong relationships, to gain this experience. Or they may do a 'job swap' with graduate design engineers who come to Morgan Est for experience of site work.

Identifying Future Leaders
Over the four years of your post graduate development we will give you a broad base of personal and management tools to help you develop into fully rounded individuals.
This includes:
- Personal effectiveness
- Managing your relationships with others
- Leading and managing teams.
We will also involve you in fundraising activities to add value back into the communities in which you work.
Another way Morgan Est tries to nurture leadership potential in its engineers is through hands-on management experience. This ensures that up-and-coming engineers are given the opportunity to take responsibility early and develop their leadership skills in a practical environment.
All get mentors - these are senior professionals with a number of years' experience and normally working at the top of their field. They will guide you in achieving the key competencies of a fully qualified professional.

The Way Forward
The emphasis is now on learning rather than training. Learning is a proactive, two-way process that requires buy-in on both sides. It puts the onus on the graduate - you will get out of it what you are willing to invest. The best way to progress the development of our people is to create a culture of learning through practical, on-the-job experience. At Morgan Est we have expert and dedicated teams willing to share knowledge.
Graduate Opportunities are available all year round.
We are also interested to hear from students looking for industrial placements and summer work.
We look for flexible, reliable, enthusiastic people with bags of common sense.
You'll get a salary between £17,500 and £21,000 depending on previous experience, qualifications and entry level. We also give financial support with accommodation, a company car and grown up benefits like pension and life assurance.
