Training & Development
We expect outstanding performance from our people. In return we make a commitment to provide exceptional opportunities for training and career development for staff at all levels.
In a company that encompasses such a range of activities, opportunities exist for people from all types of background. Our aim is to use all of the mechanisms open to us to identify talent, and to inspire those we employ to achieve career success beyond their expectations. We share knowledge and experience across the company to the benefit of the business, our people and our clients.
In order to achieve this we have adopted a fresh approach to performance management that enables us to work smarter and continuously improve at every level of the business. We use a toolbox of techniques that combine formal processes with an open, coaching-style culture, and regular innovations.
We run structured development programmes for graduates, trainees, apprentices.

Professional Qualifications
We will support our employees, whatever their entry level to achieve a professional qualification in their chosen discipline.
It does require a lot of personal commitment but whether you are looking to become a chartered engineer, surveyor, marketer, buyer, accountant, HR professional, this is endless; if you have the drive we will give you the opportunity.

Performance and Development Planning (PDP)
The Morgan Est model of Performance and Development Planning (PDP) is divided into the three key elements that are required for any individual to perform their job successfully:
- Key tasks and objectives of the job
- Technical skills and knowledge required by the job
- Competencies to achieve successful outcomes
Morgan Est has further sub-divided the third of these into 11 competencies, which stem directly from our Mission Statement and form the basis of how we act, how we make decisions, how we invest our time and how we relate to others - clients, partners, suppliers and, of course, work colleagues.
There are five levels of achievement within each of the 11 competencies, and all Morgan Est people must reach the specified level in order to fulfil their designated role. The clarity and structure that this process provides gives both the individual and the company a measure of improved performance which can then be rewarded.

Effective Leadership and Management
With structured frameworks for training and performance management, we have been successful at nurturing leaders within our business.
Morgan Est was awarded Investors in People in July 2000. The award was reviewed and newly accredited in October 2006.
Our leaders and managers are invited to attend off the job courses which develop their professional tool kit of leadership and management skills.
We have three different programmes targeted at different experience levels. All who attend learn something new that will improve their versatility as a manager.

Plant and construction skills
Our aim is to give our operatives the key skills for them to do their jobs safely and with technical competence.
We set high standards and provide regular training in safety, environments and quality as well as qualifying our work as well as qualifying our workforce through the NVQ route.
Our operatives receive two - three hours training per person per month.
Site safety begins with a thorough site induction, which covers health and safety, an overview of the project and team, and a review of environmental, quality and other key issues.

Celebration of achievement
We encourage our leaders to seek out opportunities to inform, embed and preserve our mission, vision and values. From corporate inductions to road-shows and from site visits to office celebrations, our directors and senior managers share Morgan Est successes. Regular project debriefs give the opportunity for stars to shine and future recommendations are made.
We are careful to review, revise and measure our successes and failures, on a day-to-day level. And we are proud of the acknowledgement that we have received from outside sources in the form of industry awards, which include the following:
FORCE Award
For organisations in the Midlands region that have made 'a substantial contribution or improvement to the area or within their own business'. This award recognises the developments that make 'a significant improvement within the construction industry'.
Client H&S Awards
We have won the site health and safety award from Anglian Water for two years' running and the Severn Trent Water Health and Safety Achievement Award where Morgan Est was praised for 'particular attention focused on forward planning and accident prevention with communication to the workforce being a key quality demonstrated by the team.'
CSCS Gold Standard
