The Opportunity:
Morgan Est Plc in partnership with Balfour Beatty and United Utilities has secured a 7 year contract for maintaining and replacing the gas network in the North of England (Yorkshire). The contract has a possibly of an extension for a further 5 years.
The main purpose of the Managing Quantity surveyor role is to ensure that the site team achieve the most beneficial commercial outcome for the business and the provision of commercial information to the management team to achieve commercial success, whilst maintaining good practice and awareness.
You will be responsible for:
• Achieves the appropriate commercial results
• Ensures that systems are in place and operating effectively that comply with Company procedural requirements and provide accurate timely reports to enable managers to respond appropriately to the information provided.
• Improves existing control procedures through innovative solutions
• Provides contractual support to project management
• Ensures accurate valuations of work is carried out.
• Calculates piecework
• Provides training and coaching in methods of measurement to both internal and external parties
• Identifies and provides training amongst QS staff
• Establishes procedures for identifying variations, addional measuring claims and rouge rates.
• Managing a small team of QS’s and support staff.
Experience:
• Experience at MQS level is essential
• Knowledge of utilities would be an advantage
