The Opportunity:
Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is investing £1.2billion to deliver its Asset Investment Programme 4 (AMP4), to improve and maintain its assets during the period 2005-2010. Morgan Est (formerly AMEC) were appointed by Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water in 2005 as one of their strategic partners in the South East Team (SET) to deliver part of its £640 million investment programme to improve and maintain its wastewater assets to ensure compliance with new legislation and to meet the needs of the population. The SET’s region covers South East Wales and some adjoining English counties. The programme of works (contract value £181million) involves resolving quality issues at 164 unsatisfactory Combined Sewer Overflows (uCSO’s), 68 Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW) and key flooding issues. The SET, which consists of Morgan Est (construction partner), Imtech Process (M&E partner), Kelda (operations partner) along with cost consultants E C Harris and Chandler KBS, was set up to deliver this programme of works and is responsible for the project management, design and construction of improvements to the wastewater network.

Experience:
Main purpose of role To be able to design and check third party design for all temporary works, ranging from trenches, cofferdams and formwork. Key Aims & Objectives: • Advise on temporary works methodology • Advise on construction methodology • Advise upon trenchless methodologies You will be responsible for: • Liaising with designers re: temporary works implications upon permanent works • Undertaking structural Piled wall / earthwork support design • Providing designs and/or design checks on General temp works schemes • Liaising with groundwork support suppliers • Undertaking basic formwork/falsework design • Undertaking slope stability analysis You will: • Have good knowledge of temporary works installation methodologies • Have good knowledge of basic structural steel design principles • Good communication skills • Demonstrate competence in Geotechnical Engineering • Be a team player • Be a motivated and proactive individual Experience/Knowledge: • Experience in civil engineering, preferably in the waste water industry
