Gleeson MCL joins Morgan Est
24/03/2006
Hatfield-based, MJ Gleeson Group subsidiary, Gleeson MCL Limited, is to join Morgan Est following its acquisition by Morgan Ests parent company, Morgan Sindall plc today (24/3/06). Gleeson MCL, which employs 143 staff and specialises in building and civil engineering infrastructure for the rail industry, will become Morgan Est Rail. Danny Duggan, Gleeson MCLs current managing director, joins the Morgan Est board and will head up Morgan Est Rail reporting to Mark Cutler, Morgan Ests new managing director who joined the company last month from Carillion.
Morgan Sindall, which has bought the business for £23.3 million, will take on Gleeson MCLs existing contracts which include a five-year construction framework agreement with London Underground. Gleeson MCL has extensive experience of new build, refurbishment and maintenance of stations, bridges and other non-track rail assets for its clients that include: London Underground Ltd, Network Rail, Tube Lines, Metronet, Dockland Light Railways and Local Authorities.
The acquisition of Gleeson MCL will significantly expand Morgan Ests rail capability and enable the company to offer unique integrated solutions to a range of new infrastructure clients.
Morgan Est intends to develop its existing civils and tunnelling capabilities and Gleeson MCL is a natural fit for the business to work alongside our market-leading tunnelling team. Gleeson MCL has a very good track record, complementary expertise and a strong business pipeline, says Mark Cutler, Morgan Ests managing director. With continued major investment in London Underground and more than £17 billion being spent on upgrading Londons road, rail and underground networks for the 2012 Olympics, we are excited about future prospects in this sector.
