Morgan Est plc has won two prestigious safety awards by leading health and safety organisation RoSPA (the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents).
The company picked up a RoSPA Gold medal and its Utilities delivery team a gold award in May's awards that recognise years of safety good practice by Morgan Est workers at sites across the country.
The RoSPA awards are presented annually to companies that demonstrate high levels of performance in health and safety.
Morgan Est has achieved five consecutive gold awards and qualified for a Gold medal.
Morgan Est Utilities delivery team has previously achieved bronze and silver awards. The RoSPA Gold award recognises the consistently high standards of health and safety achieved by the division over the past four years.
The company secured the award by proving its excellence in managing health and safety at work and showing that it has successfully driven down accident rates.
Bob Cole, safety director at Morgan Est, said: "The achievement of the RoSPA awards is a tribute to the hard work of all staff and subcontractors and their commitment to the very highest safety standards.
"During the last four years we have achieved a significant reduction in the number of reportable injuries and incidents on our sites and created a safer, healthier working environment for our workers and subcontractors."
John Howard, RoSPA Chief Executive, said: The awards are designed to help managers raise the profile of good health and safety practice in their organisations by celebrating their successful track record. They examine whether the employer has a good safety management system in place as well as a good safety record.
The main body of awards gold, silver, bronze and merit are for achievement over a set numbers of years. One year for merit, rising to four for gold. Substantial achievement over a longer period can result in Gold Medal, Presidents and Order of Distinction awards. This year there are 13 Orders of Distinction, 67 Presidents Awards, 221 Gold Medals, 612 Gold Awards, 204 Silver, 88 Bronze and 74 Merit.
The awards were presented at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole, NEC and run alongside RoSPAs Occupational Safety and Health at Work Congress, sponsored by EDF Energy.
