Our projects
Since 2000 we have completed several landmark projects including:
• The Channel Tunnel Rail Link tunnel beneath the North Downs in Kent, using sprayed concrete to provide the primary support lining
• 14km of road, rail and storm drainage tunnels associated with Heathrow Terminal 5, using precast tunnel linings and sprayed concrete linings
• The pedestrian tunnels on the King's Cross Station Redevelopment scheme, linking the Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria underground lines. These tunnels were constructed using sprayed concrete methods
• 10km of 3m diameter cable tunnel for National Grid, constructed using precast concrete segmental linings
• 20km of major water-related tunnels for Northern Ireland Water and Thames Water constructed as segmental tunnels and pipejacking

Our design capability
Tunnelling design is provided by Underground Professional Services, an in-house design team involved at all phases of the project.
Integration of design with construction has helped Morgan Est develop a reputation for innovation and value engineering. Production and engineering personnel work together to ensure that safety, buildability, quality and environmental considerations are incorporated into the design process to reduce identified risks to the lowest possible level.
Segmental tunnel linings are designed and manufactured in-house at the Ridham precast concrete factory near Sittingbourne in Kent.
A modern fleet of tunnelling equipment is maintained from our depot at Swynnerton. The fleet includes a range of 11 Lovat Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) machines, two Dosco roadheader shields and four Iseki slurry Tunnel Boring Machines. These, and all associated back-up plant, are managed and supported by a team of mechanical and electrical specialists.

Belfast Sewers Project
Design, construction and mechanical and electrical support for a new stormwater sewerage system and Terminal Pumping Station for Belfast.
Croydon Cable Tunnel
Construction of a 10km long, 3m diameter tunnel for 400kv cables and all associated mechanical and electrical works.
