Case Study: Tunnels

Brief Description
A collaboration of an international joint venture (which resulted in the exchange of knowledge and experience between the designers and those who executed the actual construction work) brought together the latest developments in tunnel construction from around the world. This resulted in the tunnel being handed over 5 months ahead of schedule and at a cost saving of over £5 million. The success of the North Downs Tunnel is a direct consequence of professionals from all disciplines working together in partnership and a spirit of open co-operation regardless of their role as designer, contractor, project manager or client.
